Import to ChatGPT

2 min read

After building your memory pack with the AI Migrator, you can load it into ChatGPT so every conversation benefits from your personal context.

Option A: Add to ChatGPT's Memory (Recommended)

The easiest way to import your context is to drop it into a chat and ask ChatGPT to remember it. This way, ChatGPT will know about you across all future conversations.

  1. Download your profile

In the AI Migrator, download your full profile as Markdown or JSON.

  2. Open a new ChatGPT chat

Go to chat.openai.com and start a new conversation.

  3. Drop the file or paste your profile

Drag and drop the downloaded file directly into the chat, or open the file and paste its contents. Then send this prompt:

“This is my personal profile and preferences exported from another AI assistant. Please save all of this information to your memory so you can reference it in future conversations.”

TIP
Make sure ChatGPT's memory feature is enabled: go to Settings > Personalization > Memory and ensure it is turned on.

Option B: Custom Instructions

Custom Instructions have a character limit, so you can't paste your entire profile. Instead, use your AI Migrator output to generate a concise version tailored for Custom Instructions.

  1. Generate custom instructions from your profile

Open a new ChatGPT chat, paste your full AI Migrator profile, and send this prompt:

“Based on this profile, create a concise Custom Instructions text for ChatGPT's ‘What would you like ChatGPT to know about you?’ field. Focus on: who I am, my communication preferences, and my most important projects. Keep it under 1,500 characters.”

  2. Open ChatGPT Settings

Click your profile icon, then Settings. Go to Personalization and find Custom Instructions.

  3. Paste into “What would you like ChatGPT to know about you?”

Paste the generated custom instructions into the first text box. Click Save.

Option C: Create a Project

If the AI Migrator detected specific projects you're working on, you can create a ChatGPT Project for each one with dedicated context. This is great for ongoing work where you want ChatGPT to deeply understand a specific project.

  1. Create a new Project

In the ChatGPT sidebar, click Projects, then click New project. Name it after the project you want to continue (e.g., “Newsletter”, “SaaS App”).

  2. Add your project context

Open the project and go to its Instructions. Paste the relevant project details from your AI Migrator output — the project description, tools, goals, and any related facts.

  3. Upload files if needed

You can also upload your full AI Migrator profile file to the project's Files section for additional context.

TIP
Use Option A for the fastest setup — just drop the file and go. Use Option B for a concise always-on summary in Custom Instructions. Use Option C for deep context on specific projects you're actively working on.
NOTE
Custom Instructions (Option B) have a ~1,500 character limit. Use the prompt above to extract only the most relevant bits from your profile. For full context, use Option A (memory) or Option C (projects).
